AhGases can now breathe a sigh of relief after learning the fate of GOT7's Dabbing King, BamBam. It was announced on April 9th that he will not serve in the military.
Korea is not the only Asian country with mandatory military service. Thailand also requires that young men participate in the military. However, they differ because while all Korean men are eventually recruited and must serve by the age of 30, Thailand's military recruitment procedure literally depends on the luck of the draw.
Each year in April, a lottery is held in local communities to determine new recruits. Potential recruits select a card from a box - either a red card or a black card. Selecting a red card means the man will serve two years, and selecting black means he is exempt. However, men also have the option of volunteerting to serve instead of playing the lottery.
On April 9th, Kunpimook Bhuwakul, better known as Bambam, took the mandatory health test - and passed - but prior to the lottery he learned that the number of recruits needed was met thanks to volunteers. Talk about a stroke of luck. IGOT7's are all thankful to the recruits who volunteered, and I'm sure everyone is looking forward to enjoying many more years of GOT7 as a whole!
Thai AhGases were also spotted cleaning up the military service event area. Nice work!
